Department Of Computer Application (BCA) is an integral part of Science College Autonomous, Hinjilicut, .a more than 14 years old premier institution of the state of Odisha. The Prestigious institution started functioning from the year 1963. Generally, the student has a rural background. It has a glorious record of outstanding performance under Berhampur University. Our students have proved their excellence across the globe in various fields ranging from academics to administration. We are proud of our alumni. NAAC in 2006 and 2017, adjudged the department as one of the best departments in the college during its grading in relation to staff, students, academic curriculum, infrastructure, and Laboratory facilities.

About the Course
The BCA course spreads over a period of 3 years divided into six semesters with an intake of 48 students. In each semester there is theory as well as practical papers, except the sixth semester which is dedicated to a major software development project work to be undertaken by each student. The BCA curriculum has been designed keeping in view the requirements of the IT industry and also to serve as a foundation for higher studies in computer science. It comprises of both theoretical and practical aspects of computer science and applications. The curriculum is a balanced blend of computer science, applications, mathematics, and management subjects. After successful completion of this course a student can join the IT industry as a system professional or pursue research in the core areas of computer science and applications.

After successful completion of this course a student can join the Banking industry as a system professional or pursue research in the core areas of computer science and applications.
Post Graduate (P.G.D.C.A.)

In each semester there is theory as well as practical papers, except the two semester which is dedicated to a major software development project work to be undertaken by each student. The PGDCA curriculum has been designed keeping in view the requirements of the IT industry and also to serve as a foundation for higher studies in computer science. It comprises of both theoretical and practical aspects of computer science and applications. The curriculum is a balanced blend of computer science, applications, mathematics, and management subjects. After successful completion of this course a student can join the IT industry as a system professional or pursue research in the core areas of computer science and applications.
Class Schedule
The BCA programme comprises of Theory, practicals and software development projects. The classes are conducted between 9.30 am – 2.30 pm on all working days. The detailed time-table for the relevant semester can be obtained from the department office.

Computing Facilities
The Department has a well-equipped laboratory with desktop computers, LAN and Internet connectivity. It has all the required software as per the need of the curriculum to carry out practical classes in C, C++, Java, and RDBMS. Students are encouraged to use open-source software as far as practicable.
Classrooms
The classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors; computers and smart boards to facilitate ICT enabled teaching and learning. Classes are quite interactive in nature. Students are also encouraged to make use of the ICT tools to prepare their presentation and demonstrate the results of their project assignments in the classroom.
The Department encourages research in areas like Intelligent Systems, Data mining, Soft Computing, Network Security and Software Engineering. The research findings are published in international and national level journals and conference proceedings. The faculty members and research students regularly present their research papers in conferences both within and outside India.
The Department has very strong and vibrant alumni who have contributed to the development of the department. BUBCA is the alias for the alumni association and a common meeting point of all the former students of the department. The activities of BUBCA can be followed at: www.bubca.com . The alumni members meet every two years in the University and contribute in terms of sharing of knowledge, holding of seminars, workshops, technical sessions etc. They also discuss industry perspectives and provide valuable input to enhance the curriculum to keep pace with the requirements of the IT industry.
